Destinies Remembers Richard Sherman-part 2

This week, Destinies continues its memorial for Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer and songwriter Richard M. Sherman.

Tune in Friday night, and travel back to August 30th, 2013, when Richard joined Perseverance Records producer Robin Esterhammer for a telephone interview to discuss and introduce selections from the 45th anniversary re-release of the soundtrack of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

In this re-mastered and expanded edition, you'll hear songs from not only the film soundtrack but also the London Cast Recording of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, starring Michael Ball.

You'll learn about the new songs written for the stage production, which also ran on Broadway, as well as how certain lyrics were updated.

Plus, you'll be treated to a specially created version of the title song, sung in multiple languages, compiled from recordings made around the world.

As autumn approaches and a new semester begins, we invite you to another extended edition of "Melting World" this Saturday from 10 PM to 3 AM Sunday, featuring a diverse mix of cosmic sounds.

Tune in for Euro psych from Magic Brother*Mystic Sister (Spain), Our Solar System, My Brother The Wind (Sweden), Hypnodrone Ensemble (Germany), The Obscure River Experiment, and Pilot Voyager (Hungary). We'll also feature Kosmische from Manuel Göttsching & Michael Hoenig (Germany) and Tarotplane (USA), 4th World sounds from Jon Hassell (USA), Michael Brook (Canada), Nodens Ictus (UK), and an Alice Coltrane live recording at Carnegie Hall (2/21/71). Ambient tracks from Robert Davies (USA) and Space Colours (Germany) round out the night.

All of it takes place this Saturday night at 10:00 PM on WUSB!

Last week, Alien: Romulus opened in theaters, reviving the 45-year-old franchise with its first entry in 7 years.

This week, the Destinies Film Review Team assembles to discuss the movie.
